Formerly known as J&J Canoe Rental, Louie and Teri Miller
acquired the business in May, 2004. You can choose from many beautiful
sites to put in canoes, from North Manchester to Mexico. Take-out
points at Laketon, Bear Grass Creek DNR site, Roann, Chili, Denver,
U.S. 31. Souvenir photos available of your trip.
There are several sites to put in your
canoes. The first would be at North Manchester. To Laketon is
about 4 hours where there is a nice DNR ramp. About 2 hours on
the river there
is a nice, long island suitable for camping at no charge. The
next landing is at Hwy 15, or Bear Grass creek, another DNR ramp.
Next would be the covered bridge in Roann, about 2 hrs. About
one hour downriver is Stockdale Mill and dam. This dam must be
portaged, or the canoe will be damaged. From Stockdale to Zinn
bridge is about four hours. Along the way you will see one of
the many Old iron bridges. After Zinn bridge , about 2 hours downstream
is Miller's Canoe Rentals. It is about 1/2 hour to Chili. From
there from there you will go to Denver , about 3 hours. Next will
be Mexico. There is a 2-3 foot dam there that
is fun and easy to run. After the dam is Hilgeman's campground.
A very nice, small campground with showers and tent camping sites
for a modest rate. After that is a take-out at U.S. 31, a short
distance. The next stop would be Denniston bridge, about 2 hours.
After that is Adamsboro, a DNR ramp. Then on to Logansport, another
3-4 hours, at Spencer Park. Soon the Eel river joins the Wabash
river.
